The 12th International Conference on Middle English was held at the University of Glasgow on 22nd – 24th August 2022.

The International Conference on Middle English started in the mid-90s as a bi-/triennial conference and has been organised by leading universities in the field of the history of English across Europe (Poznań, Helsinki, Dublin,Vienna, Naples, Cambridge, Lviv, Murcia, Wroclaw, Stavanger, Florence).

In 2022 the conference came to the University of Glasgow, which has particular strengths in Middle English and Middle Scots as well as the world-class Special Collections and the Hunterian Museum.

ICOME gathers researchers working on broadly conceived Middle English from various perspectives including linguistic variation, textual and manuscript studies, literary and philological approaches.
